Diamond Grind Floors overlay systems are advanced, professional grade, hydraulic cement-based, self-leveling, architectural topping and resurfacer that can be used both indoors and outdoors. It can be ground and polished to expose the aggregate and simulate the appearance of polished concrete, marble metallic pearl, terrazzo or any solid color. Customize even further and choose the color and size of the aggregate in the mix.
Our concrete overlays are incredibly durable and stronger than concrete. All of our overlays have a psi rating from 5,000psi to 10,000 psi in comparison to standard concrete from a concrete truck or bags are typically in the range of 3500psi to 4500psi. Overlays cure at an extremely high rate and can be returned to service anywhere from 4-48 hours after application.
In most cases, overlays are used to cover up aesthetic imperfections in an existing floor, however, they can also be a preference of an owner desiring a uniform finish which you can not get from standard concrete. Applications are endless and can be installed over concrete or wood subfloors inside residential homes, basements, high-rise condos and ADU’s. They are often the floor of choice in most offices, showroom floors, retail stores, restaurant floors, hotel lobbies and more. All of our installers have been trained by the manufacture of the multiple overlay products we carry and have been hands on installing many overlays. We take pride in our work to ensure we leave you with a beautiful floor to last a lifetime.
24-48 hours following the pouring of your Concrete Overlay we begin the Polishing, using the same system and process in which we Polish Concrete.
Husqvarna Hiperfloor Polishing System is leading the industry through an innovative combination of mechanical grinding and chemically treating polishing. With specifically engineered diamond technology, the Polished Overlay process moves through a succession of a minimum of 6 steps.
These steps are made up of diamond grinding, using progressively finer grit sizes, an effective and exclusive concrete pore filling method with a specialized grout followed by the application of a chemical premium liquid densifier that increases the surface hardness of the concrete resulting in stronger properties then new concrete.
Next the we begin the “polishing” with progressively finer diamond grits until the level of sheen requested is obtained. A minimum polishing level of 400grit must be obtained to be considered Polished Concrete. We polish all of our floors to 1500grit sheen with an optional 3000grit level if desired.
Polished Concrete is very easy to maintain and clean. To clean you will simply use a dry microfiber mop in place of a typical house broom. Typically every 4-6 weeks you will wet mop the floor. Super easy!
In fact Polished Concrete has the lowest cost/sqft out of any floor on the market in regards to maintenance. Virtually maintenance free and considered a lifetime floor.
24-48 hours after your overlay is poured we will being the Grind & Seal. Just like it sounds is the process we are going to perform.
We mechanically grind the concrete thru a progression of typically 3 levels from 30grit → 60grit → 120grit this provides a smooth flat surface. We then apply a Sealer to protect the surface.
There are several types of sealers on the market today and our standard Grind & Seal comes with an Industrial Acrylic Sealer which forms a thin protective coating on the surface of the concrete and are available in both solvent and water-based formulations.
You have the option to upgrade your sealer to either a PolyAspartic or Polyurethane sealer both of those sealers form a high-build protective film on the concrete surface and is best on floors that will have high-traffic, wheel/tire traffic, pets with nails or anyone who want to perform little to no maintenance on there floor. PolyAspartic and Polyurethane Sealers are the strongest topical sealers on the market and provide great resistance to scuffs, scratches and staining. It also enhances the beauty of either colors, stamped, or exposed-aggregate and concrete countertops.
Our system utilizes specially designed cementitious materials that provide the benefit of polished concrete without the underlying slab imperfections. The very day after a concrete floor is poured, we begin our physical refining of the floor to a polished finish, avoiding interruption to your project schedule. Because we are refining the floor and utilizing penetrating instead of topical sealers the required maintenance is greatly reduced and the floor never has to be resealed.
Our Sealed Concrete Overlay System utilizes specially designed cementitious materials that provide durability and strength stronger than concrete without the underlying slab imperfections. The very day after an overlay concrete floor is poured, we begin our physical refining of the floor fro 30grit grinding to 120grit prior to sealing with
